The authors design a nonlocal model for heat transfer in conducting and radiating media with the objective to construct a general mathematical structure and to prove the existence theorem for the solution of this model. To illustrate the application of the model, the authors construct from physical principles operator governing heat radiation in the case when the radiation coefficient does not depend on the wavelength or on the direction of radiation. Both the cases of opaque and of perfectly transparent material, and also of semitransparent material are considered.
