Polyhedral reachable set with positive controls (Q1377563): Difference between revisions

Linear finite-dimensional stationary discrete-time dynamical systems with a single positive input are considered. Using algebraic methods, the geometrical structure of the reachable sets is discussed in detail. It is shown that the shape of the reachable sets strongly depends on the eigenvalues of the systems matrices. Moreover, a conical structure of the reachable sets is explained and illustrated by a simple numerical example. The proofs of the results are based on linear algebra methods and the explicit form of the solution to the difference state equation. Finally, several remarks and comments on the constrained controllability problems for linear discrete control systems are given. The results of the paper extends the theorems stated in the paper [\textit{M. E. Valcher}, Int. J. Control 65, 511-536 (1996; Zbl 0873.93009)].
