The purpose of this paper is to present a disintegration formula for the quantum Yang-Mills measure for a compact surface \(\Sigma\) in terms of the corresponding measures for two surfaces \(\Sigma_1\) and \(\Sigma_2\) into which \(\Sigma\) may be decomposed. As a consequence, a formula which expresses the symplectic volume measure on the moduli space of flat \(SU(2)\) connections over a closed Riemann surface \(\Sigma\) in terms of the corresponding volume measures for the surfaces \(\Sigma_1\) and \(\Sigma_2\), when the latter each have one boundary component, is also obtained.
