Let \(H_{n}^{N}(z)\) and \(H_{n}^{N}(c_{n}z)\) (\(c_{n}\) being suitable positive numbers) \(n,N\to \infty\), be the relativistic and rescaled Hermite polynomials respectively. The authors using a known connection formula between the relativistic Hermite polynomials and Jacobi polynomials and results on Jacobi polynomials, derive strong asymptotics for the relativistic Hermite polynomials on the oscillatory region for \(N=an+a+1/2\), \(a\geq 0\), \(a\geq -1\) or \({N\over n}\to \infty\) and away the oscillatory region for \(N=an+a+1/2\), \(a>0\), \(N=a+1/2\), \(a>-1/2\) or \({N\over n}\to \infty\). The Riemann-Hilbert approach for orthogonal polynomials gives uniform asymptotics which hold everywhere in the complex plane. The authors using the Riemann-Hilbert approach for relativistic Hermite polynomials, for \(N=an\), \(a>0\), obtain strong asymptotics on the interval of the zeros, of the interval and in the neighborhood of the largest zeros which will turn out to be in terms of the Airy functions.
