In the \(d\)-dimensional space, \(d\) Riesz transforms play the role the Hilbert transform does in the one-dimensional theory of Hardy spaces. Classical Riesz transforms are associated to the Laplace operator. Other differential operators define different Riesz transforms. Those associated to Hermite functions were introduced by S. Thangavelu. In the paper under review, the boundedness of their \(L^p\)-norms, \(1<p<\infty,\) established by Thangavelu, is proved in a different way. The advantage of this new proof is that the constant in the obtained estimate depends only on \(p\) but not on the dimension. Similarly, dimension free are the estimates for the Riesz transforms of higher order. The proof goes along the lines of that for the classical Euclidean Riesz transforms due to E. Stein. To use this approach, an extension of the Littlewood-Paley theory is suggested.
