The authors discuss the similarity and difference of the responces of several simple single-mode constitutive models, at least when put in multi-mode form. In this context they describe the behaviour of linear and branched polymers. A new form of the single-mode PTT model (PTT-XPP) shows a steady elongational response nearly identical to the XPP model, but it differs from the XPP model at large shear rates.
