Es seien die Unbekannten drei an der Zahl, und es ziehe jede Ebene \(ax+by+cz+n=0\) (Gewicht \(w\)) ein Theilchen an mit einer Kraft proportional \((a^2+b^2+c^2)u\) und direct der Entfernung von der Ebene. Die Coordinaten der Gleichgewichtslage der Theilchen werden dann die Werthe sein, welche durch die Methode der kleinsten Quadrate gegeben sind.
