Wavelet adaptive methods for elliptic equations are considered. A main aspect is the efficient treatment of non-homogeneous boundary conditions. The method is based on the use of compatible multiscale decompositions for both the domain and its boundary. An explicit construction of the wavelet bases and the lifting operator is proposed on fairly general domains, based on \(C^0\) conforming domain decomposition techniques.
