[Part I by the same author in ibid. 38, 695-725 (1998).] For a manifold \(M\) let Diff\(_0^*(M)\) denote the component of the identity in the group of diffeomorphisms of \(M\) with compact support, \(X\) the collection of \(n\)-point subsets of \(M\) or of infinite configurations of \(M\) and \(\mathcal U(H)\) the unitary group on a finite dimensional Hilbert space \(H\). A 1-cocycle is a function \(X\times \text{Diff}_0^*(M)\to \mathcal U(H)\) satisfying a cocycle condition. Under suitable assumptions it is shown how to associate with each 1-cocycle a canonical 1-cocycle. This shows a relation between 1-cocycles and the geometry of \(M\).
