Algebraic additive Schwarz iterations with overlapping blocks are examined for solving \(Ax=b\), when the coefficient matrix is an M-matrix. Weighted max norm bounds are derived which are analogous to those that exist using \(A\)-norms when \(A\) is symmetric and positive definite. New results are obtained on \(P\)-regular splittings, and a theory of splitting is developed to represent algebraic additive Schwarz iterations. It is shown that a coarse grid correction improves the convergence when measured in weighted max norm.
