This paper gives a new proof of the global existence result for the three-dimensional relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell system. This important result was first obtained by \textit{R. T. Glassey} and \textit{W. A. Strauss} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 92, 59--90 (1986; Zbl 0595.35072)] using an ingeneous representation of the electric and magnetic fields. The new proof is based on the Fourier transform. Yet another proof of the same result has been given by \textit{F. Bouchut}, \textit{F. Golse} and \textit{Ch. Pallard} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 170, No. 1, 1--15 (2003; Zbl 1044.76075)].
