    The paper deals with self-adjoint second-order matrix dynamical equation \[ (P(t)X^{\Delta}(t))^{\Delta}+Q(t)X^{\sigma}(t) = 0, \tag{1} \] on a measure chain (time scale) \(\mathbb{T}\), where \(\mathbb{T}\) is nonempty closed subset of \(\mathbb{R}\), \(\sup\mathbb{T} = \infty.\) \( X^{\Delta}(t)\) denotes the delta derivative of matrix-function \(X(t), t \in \mathbb{T},\) i.e., the matrix (provided it exists) with the property that given any \(\varepsilon > 0\), there is a neighborhood \(U\) of \(t\) such that \[ |X(\sigma(t)) - X(s) - X^{\Delta}(t)(\sigma(t)-s)|\leq \varepsilon |\sigma(t)-s| \] for all \(s \in U,\) where \(\sigma(t) = \inf \{ \tau > t: \tau \in \mathbb{T}\}\). Eq. (1) is said to be non-oscillatory on \([a,\infty)\) if for any solution \(X(t) \not\equiv 0\) there is a \(t_1 > a\) such that \(X^*(\sigma(t))P(t)X(t) > 0\) for \(t \in [t_1,\infty).\) Using averaging techniques oscillation and non-oscillation criteria for Eq. (1) are obtained.
