A model with physically correct diffusion matrices, taking full account of capillarity is investigated. The authors show that if a three-phase flow model is well-behaved near the boundary, a Dumortier-Roussarie-Sotomayor point must exist within the region of strict hyperbolicity. In addition, they derive necessary and sufficient conditions for a three-phase flow model to be well-behaved near the boundary and then verify these conditions for an example.
