The theoretical physics literature has conjectured the values of many critical exponents which have recently been rigorously proved. The paper under review concerns the critical site percolation on the triangular lattice. Using a recent proof by \textit{S. Smirnov} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I, Math. 333, No.~3, 239-244 (2001; Zbl 0985.60090)] that the scaling limit of this percolation process exists, the probability that the cluster of the origin has diameter larger than \(R\) is proved to decay like \(R^{-5/48}\) as \(R\rightarrow \infty\). The proof has something to do with the determination of the values of Brownian intersection exponents in the plane.
