The study of the authors is concerned with \(L^p\)-theory of semigroups generated by second-order elliptic differential operators in divergence form \( L\) having singular real measurable coefficients. In particular the coefficient of the principal part, the matrix \(a,\) is symmetric and uniformly elliptic. In the present note they extend, with general conditions on the coefficients, the research started in the paper by \textit{Z. Sobol} and \textit{H. Vogt} [J. Funct. Anal. 193, 24-54 (2002; Zbl 1020.47028)]. They construct a quasicontractive \(C_0\)-semigroup \(T\), whose generator gives an operator realization of \(L.\) The principal results obtained are heat kernel estimates, that are pointwise two-sided estimates of the integral kernel of the semigroup \(T.\) The obtained estimates are expressed in terms of weight functions which are positive supersolutions to the corresponding elliptic equation and its adjoint.
