Resonances of one-dimensional Schrödinger operators (linear one and linearized nonlinear one) are considered. The technical tool used in this expository paper to characterize the poles of the meromorphic continuation of resolvent is the Evans function. It vanishes at the position of the resonance. In fact, the order of the root is equal to the algebraic multiplicity of the resonance.
