The paper deals with automorphisms and derivations of \(T_n(A)\), the algebra of upper triangular matrices over an algebra \(A\), as well as of some other algebras. A sample result: Let \(A\) be either a semiprime ring or a ring whose idempotents are all central. Let \(C\) be a central subring of \(A\). Then every \(C\)-automorphism of \(T_n (A)\) is of the form \(\Phi \circ \Psi\) where \(\Psi\) is induced by a \(C\)-automorphism of \(A\) and \(\Phi\) is inner.
