A quasi-Trefftz spectral method is applied to separable, second-order elliptic equations with varying coefficients. Problems in irregular domains are considered. Properties of boundary methods are combined with spectral approximations using eigenfunctions of some Sturm-Liouville problems. The method is tested for one- and two-dimensional problems with exact analytic solutions.
