Let us consider a complex manifold \(M\) and a holomorphic foliation on it of complex codimension \(2\) whose singular locus contains a compact connected component \(K\) of the Kupka set. Making use of explicit cocycle computations, the author proves that, if the transversal type of \(K\) has a non-semisimple part, then the first Chern class of the normal bundle of \(K \subset M\) vanishes in \(H^2(K, \mathbb Z).\) As a result, he obtains the following assertion: when the transversal type is given by the radial vector field in \(\mathbb C^3\) and the first Chern class does not vanish, then the transversal type is fixed under deformations of the foliation. The author also underlines that the main results of his paper were inspired by ideas from [\textit{X. Gómez-Mont} and \textit{A. Lins Neto}, Topology 30, No.~3, 315--334 (1991; Zbl 0735.57014)] where foliations of codimension 1 have been studied.
