Let \(X\) be a Banach space and \(a\) be a nonnegative real number. The coefficient \(R(a,X)\) is defined by: \[ R(a,X)= \sup\{\liminf\|x+ x_n\|\}, \] where the supremum is taken over all \(x\in X\) with \(\|x\|\leq a\) and all weakly null sequences \((x_n)\) in the unit ball of \(X\) such that \[ \limsup_n \Biggl(\limsup_m \|x_n- x_m\|\Biggr)\leq 1. \] Also \[ C(B)= \sup\{c\geq 0: \inf\{\liminf_{\|x\|\geq c}\|x+ x_n\|- 1\}\leq B-1\}. \] In this paper the authors try to generalize the classical result regarding the weak fixed point property and prove the following theorem: Let \(X\) be a Banach space with the norm \(\|\cdot\|\). Let \(|\cdot|\) be a norm on \(X\) equivalent to \(\|\cdot\|\) and let \(B\) be a positive real number such that for all \(x\in X\), \(\|x\|\leq |x|\leq B\|x\|\). Let \(Y\) be the Banach space with new norm \(|\cdot|\). If \(B\) satisfies the inequality \(B< \sup\{{1+ a\over R({a\over B} C(B),X)}: a\geq 0\}\), then \(Y\) has the fixed point property.
