An axiomatic approach to scalar cardinalities of finite fuzzy sets based on some postulates, a characterization theorem and some examples are given. This axiomatic approach generates a family of possible scalar cardinalities, including sigma counts. It is mentioned that the presented axiomatic approach can be extended to fuzzy sets with arbitrary supports. It will be worth developing, systematically, the theory of fuzzy cardinalities for arbitrary fuzzy sets.
