\textit{G. E. Andrews} et al. [Acta Arith. 105, No. 1, 51--66 (2002; Zbl 1004.05006)] introduced and studied a new class of partitions, partitions with designated summands. In such partitions, among parts with equal size exactly one is designated or tagged. They also presented some arithmetic properties of \(PD_2(n)\), the number of 2-regular partitions of \(n\) with designated summands (a partition of \(n\) is \(k\)-regular if there is no part divisible by the positive integer \(k\)). \textit{N. D. Baruah} and \textit{K. K. Ojah} [Integers 15, Paper A09, 16 p. (2015; Zbl 1386.11109)] found further congruences for \(PD_2(n)\). \textit{M. S. Mahadeva Naika} and \textit{D. S. Gireesh} [Integers 16, Paper A25, 14 p. (2016; Zbl 1401.11136)] presented a list of congruences for \(PD_3(n)\). \textit{R. da Silva} and \textit{J. A. Sellers} [Integers 20A, Paper A6, 11 p. (2020; Zbl 1439.11270)] presented new congruences for \(PD_3(n)\) and gave a complete characterization of \(PD_3(n)\) modulo 3. In the paper under review, the authors present families of congruences satisfied by \(PD_k(n)\) for infinitely many \(k\) of the form \(k\equiv r\pmod m\), with \(0\le r<m\). Theorem 3 presents families of congruences for the case \(r=0\) modulo 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9. Theorem 4 presents congruences for the case \(r>0\) modulo 2.
