The present paper deals with gradient models for spins taking values in the integers, which interact via a general potential depending only on the differences of the spin values at neighboring sites of the regular tree with \(d + 1\) neighbors (i.e., Cayley tree or Bethe lattice). The authors first establish some general conditions on the associated transfer operator which provide the existence of a countable family of proper Gibbs measures. Then the existence of delocalized gradient Gibbs measures is proved under natural conditions on transfer operator. Besides, the authors find the coexistence of both types of measures, for large classes of models, in particularly the SOS-model.
