The authors correct some misprints in Chapter VIII of the famous book by \textit{B. Blackadar} [\(K\)-theory for operator algebras. 2nd ed. Cambridge University Press (1998; Zbl 0913.46054)] and the subsequent work by \textit{H. Bettaieb} et al. [J. Funct. Anal. 229, No. 1, 184--237 (2005; Zbl 1086.19002)]. Namely, it is shown that extra care should be taken while working with Kasparov modules when they are unbounded, since such modules fail to define an element of the \(KK\)-group in general; the relevant counterexamples are constructed.
