    This book presents classical mechanics including kinematics and statics, and can be recommended as a textbook for undergraduate and graduate students in mechanical and civil engineering and applied physics. In Chapter 1, the fundamental principles of mechanics are formulated, illustrated and discussed. The author also gives here a general historical overview of mechanics, Newton's laws, Maxwell equations, Einstein theories; D'Alembert principle, the principle of virtual work, the increment and the variation of a function. Chapter 2 is devoted to statics. The concept of equilibrium (geometric and analytical equilibrium), reductions of force systems, and the phenomenon of friction are introduced. Some friction models frequently used in the literature are presented, among them the so-called Coulomb-Contensou-Zhuravlev model. Some computational examples are included. Chapter 3 deals with the geometry of masses. The basic concepts are introduced, including mass center, moment of inertia and polar moment of inertia. Two Guldin rules are formulated with some examples. Also, the inertia matrix, the Steiner theorem, the principal moments of inertia, the inertia tensor, and the ellipsoid of inertia are discussed. The kinematics of particle, curvilinear and normal coordinates and kinematic pairs and chains constitute the focus of Chapter 4: problems of plane motion, a classification of motions, position, velocity and acceleration of a particle in rectangular, cylindrical, spherical and arbitrary curvilinear coordinates, joint variables, Denavit-Hartenberg convention and a classification of problems in kinematics. In Chapter 5, the kinematics of a rigid body and the composite motion of a point are studied. Here, the author analyzes translational, rotational, planar motions, the motion of a rigid body with a fixed point, and finally the general and composite motion of a rigid body. Chapter 6 ends the text with the kinematics of a deformable body. The tensor notation, the stress tensor, symmetric and asymmetric tensors, elastic body deformation, the definition of Clapeyron systems and Betti's and Castigliano's theorems are used in this chapter. This excellent book unifies different approaches to the subject in the English, Russian, Polish and German literature.
