In this paper, the author proposes an alternative procedure to construct shift elements in the context of inhomogeneous Lax operators subjected to certain constraints related to general linear \(r\)-matrix algebras. The validity of the method is tested by means of carefully chosen systems, like the rational Gaudin system in presence of an external magnetic field, the Kovalevskaja systems or Toda chains. In addition, new integrable systems that extend the Zhukovski-Volterra systems for the case of the general linear and special orthogonal Lie algebras are constructed.
