The importance of the Ohsawa-Takegoshi extension theorem for holomorphic functions [\textit{T. Ohsawa} and \textit{K. Takegoshi}, Math. Z. 195, 197--204 (1987; Zbl 0625.32011)] lies in the fact that it comes with a weighted \(L^2\)-estimate for the extension with a kind of universal estimate. Ever since the publication of the original theorem of Ohsawa and Takegoshi, people were searching for the optimal estimate, thus proving the Ohsawa-Takegoshi theorem with better and better estimates step by step. Finally, inspired by work of Guan-Zhou (see [\textit{L. Zhu} et al., J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) 97, No. 6, 579--601 (2012; Zbl 1244.32005); \textit{Q. Guan} and \textit{X. Zhou}, C. R., Math., Acad. Sci. Paris 351, No. 3--4, 111--114 (2013; Zbl 1272.32011)]), Blocki found the optimal version of the Ohsawa-Takegoshi theorem on bounded pseudoconvex domains in \(\mathbb{C}^n\) and used it to solve the Suita conjecture (see [\textit{Z. Błocki}, Invent. Math. 193, No. 1, 149--158 (2013; Zbl 1282.32014)]). In the present note, the authors announce -- without proof -- the generalization of this Ohsawa-Takegoshi \(L^2\)-extension theorem with optimal constants to the case of holomorphic sections of Nakano semi-positive vector bundles over a complex manifold \(M\). The extension is essentially from an analytic set \(A\) in \(M\) such that \(M\setminus A\) is Stein. This is a setting that appears already in the original work of Ohsawa-Takegoshi. The authors give several applications, including a solution of the equality case in a conjecture of Suita on logarithmic capacities of open Riemann surfaces, a solution of the extended Suita conjecture and a confirmation of the so-called L-conjecture.
