    The authors prove null controllability of the semilinear parabolic equation with the nonlinear quadratic gradient term \[ \begin{cases} y_{t} - \Delta y + a| \nabla y| ^{2} = \chi_{\omega}u& \text{in }\;Q_{T} = \Omega \times (0,T)\\ y = 0 & \text{on }\;\Sigma_{T} = \partial \Omega \times (0,T),\\ y(x,0) = y_{0}(x)& \text{in }\;\Omega \end{cases} \] where \(a\neq 0\) is a constant, \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^{N}\) is a bounded domain with boundary \(\partial \Omega \in C^{2}, \omega \neq \emptyset \subset \Omega, \chi_{\omega}\) is the characteristic function of \(\omega\), \(y_{0}\in H_{0}^{1}(\Omega)\cap L^{\infty}(\Omega)\) and the control function \(u\in L^{\infty}(Q_{T})\).
