For \(p>1\) and \(\alpha>-1\) let \(A^p_\alpha\) be the weighted Bergman space of all functions \(f\) holomorphic in the unit disk for which \[ || f||^p_{A^p_\alpha}=\int_{\mathbb D}| f(z)|^p(1-| z|)^\alpha\,dA(z)<\infty. \] The authors of this nice survey paper present a unified approach to some known and some new criteria for the boundedness and compactness of composition operators \(C_\phi:f\mapsto f\circ\phi\) mapping a weighted Bergman space \(A^p_\alpha\) into another one \(A^q_\beta\), where \(q\geq p\) and \(\alpha,\beta>-1\). They also obtain asymptotic formulas for the distance of \(C_\phi\) to the set of compact operators between the underlying spaces. Criteria are given in terms of generalized Nevanlinna counting functions, generalized Carleson measures and integral formulas.
