The author extends the so-called singularization technique of \textit{C. Kraaikamp} [Acta. Arith. 57, 1--39 (1991; Zbl 0721.11029)] from one to two dimensions. This method is very useful to study dynamical and diophantine properties of continued fractions and related expansion. In the present paper this technique is applied to the two-dimensional Brun algorithm. In particular, the author is interested in the transferability of the density of the invariant measure. Finally, he uses this method to construct an algorithm which improves approximation properties, as opposed to Bruns's algorithm.
