Let \(q >1\) and \(E\) be a real \(q\)-uniformly Banach space, \(K\) a nonempty closed convex (not necessarity bounded) subset of \(E\), and \(T:K \to K\) a strictly pseudocontractive map with \(F(T)\neq \emptyset \). Let \(\{u_{n}\} \) be a bounded sequence in \(K\), and let \(\{ \alpha _{n}\} \), \(\{ \beta _{n}\} \), and \(\{ \gamma _{n}\} \) be real sequences in [0,1] satisfying certain restrictions. Let \(\{ x_{n}\} \) be the bounded sequence generated from an arbitrary \(x_{1} \in K\) by the Ishikawa iteration process with errors: \[ \begin{aligned} y_{n}&=(1-\beta _{n})x_{n}+\beta _{n}Tx_{n},\\ x_{n+1}&=(1-\alpha _{n}-\gamma _{n})x_{n}+ \alpha _{n}Ty_{n}+\gamma _{n}u_{n}, \quad n \geq 1.\end{aligned} \] The authors of the present paper prove that if \(T\) is compact or demicompact, then \(\{ x_{n}\} \) converges strongly to a fixed point of \(T\). Their result improves and extends those of \textit{M. O. Osilike} and \textit{A. Udomene} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 256, 431--445 (2001; Zbl 1009.47067)] in the following ways: (1) the Ishikawa iteration process is extended to the case of Ishikawa iteration process with errors; (2) the stronger condition (ii) of Osilike and Udomene is removed and replaced by a weaker condition.
