The author shows a criterion under which the absolute continuous spectrum of a Schrödinger operator is essentially supported on the positive half line. The main result is: if \(W,V\in L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\), if \(W(x)/| x| ^{d-1}\in L^1\), and if the spectra of both \(-\Delta+V+W\) and \(-\Delta-V+W\) are contained in the positive half line, then the above holds. \textit{D. Damanik} and \textit{R. R. Kilip} [Acta Math. 193, No. 1, 31--72 (2004; Zbl 1081.47027)], proved a similar result for the half-line.
