A complex \(n\times n\) matrix \(A\) is called strictly diagonally (row) dominant if for each \(i= i,\dots,n\) the modulus of the \(i\)th diagonal element of \(A\) exceeds the sum of the moduli of the \(n-1\) off-diagonal elements of the \(i\)th row of \(A\), and \(A\) is called strictly generalized diagonally (row) dominant if there exists a diagonal matrix \(D\) (which can be assumed to be positive) such that \(AD\) is strictly diagonally dominant. This is equivalent to the concept of \(H\)-matrix. The authors present a sufficient condition for testing \(H\)-matrices which they consider superior to the existing ones. They also show that the proper subset of the set of \(H\)-matrices determined by the above-mentioned condition preserves the closure property under the Schur complement operation.
