    In the first part of this paper, the author presents a survey of some generalizations of the Schauder fixed point theorem and the contraction principle. The second part deals with new generalizations of Krasnosel'skij's fixed point theorem for the sum of two operators. Several direct consequences of these generalizations are also given.
