A symmetric word matrix equation (SWME) \(S(X,B)=A\) is (uniquely) solvable if it has a (unique) positive definite solution \(X\) for every pair of \(n\times n\) positive definite matrices \(A\) and \(B\). The author considers the SWME \(XBX^2B^3X^2BX=A\) which is shown by \textit{S. Armstrong} and \textit{C. Hillar} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., in press] to be uniquely solvable in the case of \(2\times 2\)-matrices, but not in the case of \(3\times 3\) ones. The author constructs explicitly its solution in the case of \(2\times 2\)-matrices.
