The authors study the problem of the passage of autowaves through a hole in an impermeable screen, their diffraction at a screen edge and their passage through narrow channels in a thick screen. They put into evidence a chaotic behavior of wave trains behind the screen, the effect of autowave reflection from a hole and the possibility for a narrow channel to become a source of periodic autowaves. The studies were performed by numerical experiments with a model of an excitable medium of the FitzHugh-Nagumo type.
