This paper considers a bistable-bistable type reaction-diffusion equation, i.e. having exactly three stable constant steady states. The authors exhibit, in the large time behavior of solutions with compactly supported initial data, sharp threshold phenomena between convergence to either of these three stable steady states. Depending on the sign of the integral of the reaction term, the results vary slightly. The proofs are sketched and rely heavily on the work of \textit{Y. Du} and \textit{H. Matano} [J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 12, No. 2, 279--312 (2010; Zbl 1207.35061)], who had obtained similar results in the bistable case.
