In this paper, a one-dimensional boundary value problem for the subdiffusion-convection equation with a fractional derivative with respect to the characteristic of the convection operator is considered. Previous results of the authors on the same problem are extended to the case of the differential equation with a fractional derivative of variable order along the characteristics of the convection operator and a quasi-linear diffusion operator. A difference scheme for the problem is constructed, based on the Lagrangian method, and the approximation error is studied; the stability in the maximum norm is proved. The accuracy estimates are derived for sufficiently smooth data and the solution of the differential problem. Furthermore, the dependence of the accuracy of the scheme on the curvature of the characteristics of the convection operator is established. The numerical results presented in the paper confirm the validity of the theoretical conclusions.
