    The author considers a Duffing-van der Pol oscillator with two polynomial nonlinearities \[ \ddot{x} + (\alpha+\beta x^2)\dot{x}-\gamma x +x^3-\mu x^5=0, \tag{1} \] where \(\alpha,\beta,\gamma\) and \(\mu\) are real constants. He provides a qualitative analysis of this equation for certain parameters and finds the Lie symmetry. One first integral to system (1) is obtained. For Part II see the review below.
