For a finite alphabet \(\mathcal A\), a shift space \(X\) is a closed subset of \(\mathcal A^\mathbb Z\) invariant under the shift \((\sigma(x))_n=x_{n+1}\). In [Int.\ J.\ Math.\ 8, No.~3, 357--374 (1997; Zbl 0885.46048)], \textit{K.~Matsumoto} introduced a \(C^*\)-algebra \(A_X\) associated to \(X\) which is flow invariant. The \(K_0\)-group of \(A_X\) has an order structure which is also flow invariant. The authors compute this order structure in some cases, including Sturmian and primitive substitutional shifts. In the latter case, it is shown that the ordered \(K_0\)-group is a strictly finer invariant than the \(K_0\)-group itself.
