Let \(D\) be a quaternion division algebra over a local field whose residue field is of odd characteristic. This paper provides a complete classification of the (finite dimensional) irreducible representations of \(D^1\), the group of elements of reduced norm \(1\). By general arguments, finite dimensional representations are induced from a congruence subgroup, and the author provides detailed construction of the irreducible ones. The proofs follow methods of \textit{L. Corwin} [Adv. Math. 13, 259--267 (1974; Zbl 0307.12020)] and \textit{D. Manderscheid} [Math. Ann. 266, 287--295, 297--305 (1984; Zbl 0507.22014)]. The representations are essentially parameterized by elements of \(D\) whose square is in the base field \(F\), up to `weak' conjugation. As an illustration, if \(\alpha\) has reduced trace zero and the valuation \(\nu(\alpha) = -n-1\) is odd for some positive \(n\), then the induced representation of \(\varphi_\alpha\) from \(E^1D^1_r\) to \(D^1\), is irreducible; here \(r = [(n+1)/2]\) is the integral part, \(E = F[\alpha]\), \(E^1 = E \cap D^1\), \(D^1_r\) are the elements \(x\) of norm one with \(\nu(x-1)\geq r\), and \(\varphi_\alpha\) is a character of \(E^1D^1_r\) which agrees on \(D^1_r\) with \(h\mapsto \chi(\text{Tr}(\alpha\cdot (h-1)))\); \(\chi\) is a fixed non-trivial unramified character of \(F^+\).
