The evolution of an ecological toy model with an infinite number of species is considered. It is assumed that two species cannot produce any third, distinct one. The faces of the (convex) state space are shown to be stable under evolution, and the extremal points are fixed points. Mathematical conditions for whether or not the system tends to some `ecological equilibrium' are analysed, and examples for both situations are constructed.
