Es liege eine transitive Gruppe \(S\) von topologischen Transformationen eines \textit{Hausdorff}schen Raumes \(R\) vor. Notwendige und hinreichende Bedingungen dafür, daß eine Metrik in \(R\) eingeführt werden kann, bei der die Abstände der Punkte invariant bleiben gegenüber allen Transformationen aus \(S\), sind: 1) \(R\) genügt dem ersten Abzählbarkeitsaxiom in einem (beliebigen) Punkt \(x_0\) von \(R\). (Die Gültigkeit des zweiten Abzählbarkeitsaxioms wird nicht verlangt.) 2) Zu jeder Umgebung \(U(x_0)\) von \(x_0\) gibt es eine Umgebung \(V(x_0)\subset U(x_0)\), so daß für jede Transformation \(\sigma\) von \(S\) aus \[ \sigma V(x_0)\cdot V(x_0)\neq 0 \] folgt: \[ \sigma V(x_0) \subset U(x_0). \] Es wird gezeigt, wie man eine den Forderungen entsprechende Metrik festsetzen kann oder auch eine den \textit{Frink}schen Bedingungen (\textit{A. H. Frink}, Distance function and the metrisation problem, Bull. Amer. math. Soc. 43 (1937), 133-142; JFM 63.0571.*) genügende, gegenüber \(S\) invariante Abstandsfunktion, aus der dann die Metrisierbarkeit von \(R\) folgt. (IV 7.)
