    The authors consider the incompressible Navier-Stokes-Maxwell system \[\begin{aligned} \partial_{t}u+u\cdot \nabla u-\mu \Delta u & =-\nabla p+j\times B, \\ \operatorname{div}u & =0, \\ \frac{1}{c}\partial_{t}E-\nabla \times B & =-j, \\ j & =\sigma (cE+u\times B), \\ \frac{1}{c}\partial_{t}B+\nabla \times E & =0, \\ \operatorname{div}B & =0, \end{aligned}\] posed in \(\mathbb{R} ^{+}\times \Omega \), where \(\Omega =\mathbb{T}^{3}\) is a periodic domain in \(\mathbb{R}^{3}\). Here \(c>0\) is the speed of light, \(\mu >0\) the viscosity of the fluid, \(\sigma >0\) the electrical conductivity, \(u=(u_{1},u_{2},u_{3})=u(t,x)\) the velocity field of the (incompressible) fluid, \(E=(E_{1},E_{2},E_{3})=E(t,x)\) the electric field, \(B=(B_{1},B_{2},B_{3})=B(t,x)\) the magnetic field, \(p=p(t,x)\) the pressure, and \(j=j(t,x)\) the electric current known through Ohm's law. The authors take \(c=\mu =\sigma =1\). The main result of the paper proves that if \(u\in L^{\infty }(0,T;L^{2}(\Omega ))\cap L^{2}(0,T;H^{1}(\Omega ))\), \(E,B\in L^{\infty }(0,T;L^{2}(\Omega ))\), and \(j\in L^{2}(0,T;L^{2}(\Omega ))\) is a weak solution to the above system, and if \(u\in L^{q}(0,T;L^{p}(\Omega ))\) for any \(\frac{1}{q}+\frac{1}{p}\leq \frac{1}{2}\), \(p\geq 4\), and \(B\in L^{r}(0,T;L^{s}(\Omega ))\) for any \(\frac{1}{r}+\frac{1}{s}\leq \frac{1}{2}\) , \(s\geq 4\), then \[ \int_{\Omega }\left\vert u(t,x)\right\vert ^{2}+\left\vert E(t,x)\right\vert ^{2}+\left\vert B(t,x)\right\vert ^{2}dx+2\int_{0}^{T}\int_{\Omega }\left\vert \nabla u\right\vert ^{2}+\left\vert j\right\vert ^{2}dxdt=\int_{\Omega }\left\vert u_{0}\right\vert ^{2}+\left\vert B_{0}\right\vert ^{2}+\left\vert E_{0}\right\vert ^{2}dx\] for any \(t\in \lbrack 0,T]\). This result result extends the Shinbrot's energy conservation criterion to the above Navier-Stokes-Maxwell system. For the proof, the authors use interpolation inequalities and regularizing arguments.
