The authors build a sequence \(\{ \Pi_n\}\) of projections in \(L^p[0,\tau_*]\), each \(\Pi_n\) being based on a grid \(\{\tau_{n,j}\}_{j=0}^n\) and they derive Theorems giving a bound on the norm \(\| (I-\Pi_n)x\| _p\) for \(x \in L^p\) in terms of the regularity of the grid. In the later part of the paper, the method is applied to approximating (using projections) weakly singular Fredholm integral equations of the second kind.
