For Dirac-harmonic maps \((\phi,\psi)\) between compact oriented Riemannian surfaces \(M\) and \(N\), the paper studies the zeros of \(|\psi|\). Using Bochner-type formulas, the relation between the order of the zeros of \(|\psi|\) and the genus of \(M\) and \(N\) is explored, and a structural theorem for Dirac-harmonic maps from \(S^2\) to \(S^2\) is provided.
