Let \(X\) be a smooth complete toric variety and let \(E\) be a vector bundle on \(X\). Let \(D\) be the divisor that is the complement of the dense torus orbit in \(X\). Recall that a logarithmic connection on \(E\) singular over \(D\) is a holomorphic splitting of the sequence: \[ 0\rightarrow \mathrm{End}(E)(-\log D)\rightarrow At(E)(-\log D)\rightarrow TX(-\log D)\rightarrow 0, \] obtained from the Atiyah exact sequence for \(E\). The authors prove that if \(E\) is equivariant, than it admits a (natural) logarithmic connection singular over \(D\) and such connection is integrable. Moreover, this property characterizes equivariant vector bundles. {\parindent=6mm Using notation as above, the following are equivalent: \begin{itemize} \item[-] \(E\) admits an equivariant structure. \item [-] \(E\) admits an integrable logarithmic connection singular over \(D\). \item [-] \(E\) admits a logarithmic connection singular over \(D\). \end{itemize}} For the proof, the connection is explicitely constructed from \(E\). On the other hand to obtain the equivariant structure on \(E\) the authors apply a criterion by \textit{A. A. Klyachko} [Math. USSR, Izv. 35, No. 2, 337--375 (1990); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 53, No. 5, 1001--1039 (1989; Zbl 0706.14010)]. For other varieties, let \(X\) be a smooth, complete variety equipped with an action of a connected complex affine algebraic group \(G\). Let \(D\) be a simple normal crossing divisor preserved by the action of \(G\). Assume that the pair \((X,D)\) is log parallelizable. For \(G\) simply connected the conditions 1) and 2) above are equivalent. For \(G\) semisimple the conditions 2) and 3) above are equivalent. As one of the applications the authors present a formula for Chern classes of an equivariant vector bundle on a smooth complete toric variety.
