    After recalling concepts from Conley index theory and the relative cup length, the paper is concerned with bifurcation for equivariant gradient-like flows on locally compact spaces. As an application the bifurcation of periodic solutions of an autonomous Hamiltonian system on \(\mathbb{R}^{2N}\) is considered.
