The author studies the model of incompressible, isotropic, inhomogeneous elastodynamics in 2D, described by the following system of equations: \[ \begin{cases}\partial_t \rho + \nabla \cdot (\rho u) = 0, \\ \partial_t(\rho u) + \nabla \cdot (\rho u \otimes u) + \nabla \rho = \rho \nabla \cdot (F F^{\top}), \\ \partial_t F + u \cdot \nabla F = \nabla u F, \\ \nabla \cdot u = 0, \quad \nabla \cdot F^{\top} = 0. \end{cases} \] It is proved, that the solution of the Cauchy problem exists globally for sufficiently small initial displacement and small density disturbance around a constant. The author follows the strategy of the paper [\textit{Z. Lei}, Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 69, No. 11, 2072--2106 (2016; Zbl 1351.35216)], where the global well-posedness was proved for the homogeneous case. The system is transformed to the Lagrangian coordinates, and the generalized energy method is applied.
