In the paper, some generalized metric spaces (with quasi-distance, see also [\textit{S.\,Czerwik}, Acta Math.\ Inform.\ Univ.\ Ostrav.\ 1, 5--11 (1993; Zbl 0849.54036) and Atti Semin.\ Mat.\ Fis.\ Univ.\ Modena 46, No.\,2, 263--276 (1998; Zbl 0920.47050)] on so-called \(b\)-metric spaces) and special types of Banach mappings on such quasi-metric spaces, which are not necessary contractive, are investigated. Some generalizations of the Banach fixed point theorem for such mappings are established. The convergence speed of the iterative sequence to the fixed point in the presented theorems is also exponential. There are several examples of so-called gauge functions, important for the proof of the fixed point theorems presented in the paper.
